Steelers

19 May 2009

During the 2008-2009 season, an encouraging pattern appeared.  The Steelers would start the game well, at some point fall behind, and in the 4th quarter, Big Ben would engineer a game winning drive.  This phenomena reared its head during the regular season, but in the biggest game of the year, Super Bowl XLIII.  Why is the leader of such a sub par offense (22nd in the league during the regular season) the engineer of so many come from behind wins? When examined, two major reasons can be found.

Coming off a super bowl victory last season, hopes couldn't be higher for the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers, as they should be.  While the team is returning 20 out of 22 starters from that super bowl run (only losing Larry Foote and Bryant Mcfadden), things begin to look bleak as we look at the possible roster a year from now.  In 2010, the

Obviously the Steelers would much rather keep Harrison than watch him lead some one else's defense through the playoffs and into the Superbowl like he did this year. He was absolutely unforgiving with his 59 tackles, 16 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 1 record breaking interception. LEGIONDARY!!!  Thank you James Harrison for the awesome year of football, hope to see you in black & gold in 2010.

Belichick is a first-class cheater and arrogant SOB.

I don't like the Ravens because they are the Steelers' true archrivals in the NFL. It's not the new Browns. It's not the Bengals. It's the Ravens because they are the old Cleveland Browns. Ever since the Ravens allegedly pissed on Three Rivers Stadium in 2000, I have despised the Ravens. I hated them even more when they won the Super Bowl.

It sucked!

The Chargers were penalized once for five yards while the Steelers were flagged 13 times for well over 100 yards. The lone San Diego TD came after a questionable pass-interference penalty on Ike Taylor. A Willie Parker TD late in the fourth quarter was nullified because of a holding call. Hines Ward was called for a couple of ticky-tack holding calls. The list goes on and on. The worst call came with 15 seconds left when Troy Polamalu's fumble return for a TD was erased because the refs thought one of the Charger players threw an illegal forward pass. Lucky, the play didn't decide the outcome of the game but it just showed the lack of communication and lack of quality refs in a league that it worth billions of dollars.

Well it was another close one that our defense definitely kept us in, but who knew we'd be playing the refs this time too?  From a BS interference call leading to SD's only touchdown, a phantom hold calling back Fast Willie's 5 yard scamper for a TD, and the most bizarre thing I have ever seen at the end of the game, negating a fumble return by Troy for a TD.

It was the game the Pittsburgh Steelers needed to win to remain serious contenders in the AFC, and a win was exactly what they got.  The Steelers took care of business on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the San Diego Chargers 11-10.  The win improves Pittsburgh’s record to 7-3, but they will little time to celebrate, as they prepare to face the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night on the NFL Network.

The Monday Night Football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens was a roller coaster ride to say the least.  The Steelers offense looked dismal in the first half and it appeared as though the Ravens were going to win their third straight, as they headed in to the locker-room at halftime, leading 13-3. I'm sitting here "watching" the Steelers play against the Rams on ESPN's Gamecast. Of course, I'm not really watching the game, but Gamecast is the next-best thing and it's free. I just don't like the idea of paying for the NFL Network. I have watched games on television my entire life and I just can't see paying for it now. I really don't know what I would do if every game was on a pay-per-view or subscription basis. I have always heard how mush the NFL makes on advertisements. If this is true, then why do they need their own pay channel?
